✨Period of Convalescence✨
Van Gogh admitted himself to the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, southern France, in May 1889. This work was painted shortly after his admission.

✨Swirling Brushstrokes✨
Van Gogh used dynamic and powerful swirling brushstrokes in many of his works from his time at the asylum, including this one, reflecting his emotional inner state.

✨Colors✨
Characterized by vivid colors, especially the striking contrast between the strong blue sky and the yellow buildings. This also suggests the influence of Van Gogh's mental state and possibly xanthopsia (yellow vision), which he was believed to have suffered from at the time.

✨Composition✨
Incorporating techniques learned from Japanese Ukiyo-e, it is painted from a high vantage point, and the outlines of the tree trunks are cut off at the top and bottom of the screen.
